President Welcome Message
It is a pleasure to welcome you to Ebonyi State Union UK (ESU).
ESU was established in 1996 immediately after the creation of Ebonyi State in Nigeria. It was established with the main aim to unite all Ebonyians in the UK and provide a platform for interaction, debate, learning, development and sharing of good practice.
All these priorities are reflected in the aims and objectives of the Union.
Furthermore, ESU believes in the promotion of Igbo language, tradition and culture in the diaspora and has made sure these key values underpin most of the activities it carries out. The Union also invests a huge amount of work and time supporting other Nigerian community organisations based in the UK sharing useful information, knowledge and skills.
Although the Union is apolitical, it believes it has a role to play in the affairs of Ebonyi State and will continue to engage and provide support, where requested, to the leadership in areas like human capital development, education, agriculture, healthcare etc.
I admire the Union and its members for the total motivation and dedication to support each other living here in the UK. I am also impressed with the wider work ESU does with charities and larger organisations that ensure there is a positive contribution towards social change. Going forward we want to build on our engagement and network strategy and collaborate with a range of different organisations. This will be useful for learning, development and building frameworks of good practice that can subsequently be disseminated.
I am truly proud to be a member of this dynamic organisation and would encourage every Ebonyian living in the UK to register with us. If you are not an Ebonyian, we are still very keen to explore how we can work together on crucial projects.
Yours in service
Chima Olugh
President, Ebonyi State Union UK.
